About The Position

This is an on your feet position that will have you moving throughout the Marriott Library and working in our high density storage facility, the Automated Retrieval Center ( ARC ). You would be responsible for fulfilling requests for the more than one million items housed in the ARC and ensuring that patrons receive the items they need in a timely manner. For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.

Requirements

• Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

Responsibilities

• item retrieval and loading of material in an Automated Retrieval Center
• working on inventory and audit projects in the ARC and throughout the book stacks
• assisting with a variety of facilities projects
• learn new technologies including the ARC operating system and the library catalog
• communicate with a diverse group
• understand the Roman alphabet
• push a loaded book truck
• lift up to 25 lbs
