About The Position

Wash and properly store all china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils and small equipment for the kitchen, banquets. Maintain the dish room and main kitchen in a sanitary and orderly manner.

Requirements

  • Able to follow verbal communication in English
  • Able to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuous basis with or without an accommodation.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen.
  • Able to perform functions such as mopping, sweeping and scrubbing using repetitive motions of the arms and upper body.
  • Able to tolerate hot/cold temperatures for long periods of time.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to chemicals using supplied safety equipment; e.g. rubber gloves.

Responsibilities

  • Implement resort/marina safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
  • Utilize protective equipment, when applicable.
  • Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to supervisor.
  • Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor.
  • Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments.
  • Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints.
  • Maintain professional, amicable relationships with all resort departments, managers, and staff, as well as vendors, and community and professional contacts.
  • Promote excellent guest service throughout the resort by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests.
  • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
  • Train and supervise other employees as directed by management.
  • Continue to learn and grow in your position.
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guests and employees.
  • Set up and break down dish machine.
  • Operate machines correctly and efficiently.
  • Check machine to be sure it is operating correctly and report any defects immediately.
  • Wash and store in proper places all china, glassware, silverware and small equipment for the department.
  • Check water temperature during dishwashing operation to insure proper temperature.
  • Remove trash from dish room and main kitchen and place in compactor.
  • Clean and sanitize all garbage cans and keep cans lined at all times.
  • Clean and keep neat dish room areas and breakdown counter including chemical storage areas.
  • Keep all poker-chip dollies and silverware dividers cleaned, sanitized and neatly stored.
  • Handle and store cleaning chemicals in a safe manner and in compliance with OSHA and state standards.
  • Practice safe techniques by utilizing safety equipment when necessary.
  • Keep all walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers clean, neat and in an organized fashion.
  • Maintain trash areas (dumpster) and mop area clean, organized and free of debris.
  • Monitor and maintain back-of-the-house areas for cleanliness.
  • Mop areas as needed to insure safety from spills and other hazards.
