About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Utility 1 workers are responsible for several bakery manufacturing activities. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to communicate and work effectively in a team environment and be flexible in assignments within the utility category. Must be able to follow instructions (written and verbal), safely, accurately complete assigned duties and maintain GMP standards and participate as part of the Food Defense Team. As a Sanitor the candidate is responsible for product safety, windows, ceilings, restroom, break room, wash racks, cleaning equipment, lights, mixers, oven, pans, etc., throughout the plant. Also may clean processing and non-processing equipment in grounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May clean floors, lights, walls, windows, ceilings, restrooms, break room, wash rack, equipment, e.g, mixer, oven, hand truck, in various areas of the plant. Spot various areas within the plant. Communicate with production staff regarding problems and cleaning frequency. Clean processing and non - processing equipment, e.g, snow removal, weeds, tree trimming, police grounds, etc. Dismantle machinery. Discard waste and or trash. Resolve insect problems. May perform other duties not listed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires high school diploma, or equivalent. Prefer previous safety training. WORKING CONDITIONS: Manufacturing environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Although the physical requirements vary each day, the employee must have the ability to sit (5%)., stand (40%), walk (10%), kneel/squat (20%) and bend (25%) for 12 hours. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds, approximately 4 times per day from floor to waist. Ability to reach from 10 inches approximately 2 hours per day, and up to 60 inches approximately 1 hour per day. Ability to climb stairs approximately 8 times per day, ladders approximately 1-2 times per day, and crawling approximately 3 to 4 times per week. Performs repetitive motion, using the hands and arms approximately 1 hour per day and the back ( twisting) approximately 1 hour per day. Must be able to perform pushing/pulling of the upper body approximately 5 to 6 times per day and the whole body approximately 4 to 5 times per day. May push and pull trash carts weighing 500 lb, dough carts weighing 800 lb, portable equipment and catch pans weighing 500 lb. May walk on unprotected heights, catwalks, etc. occasionally every week. Cannot be afraid of heights. Must be in good physical condition. OTHER ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS NOT LISTED ABOVE INCLUDE: Reading, peripheral vision, hearing, understanding scheduling, visual inspection of cake to determine if the product matches stated Quality Standards. MACHINES/TOOLS USED: Putty knife, buckets, rags, paper knife, broom, mop, dollies, hair net, and hearing protection. Safety glasses and bump caps may also be used. Regular use of the company's time keeping system and limited use of a calculator, computer and process control sheets may be required. This is a full time PM Position.
