About The Position

This position is for a hard-working, customer-focused individual with construction or utility experience. The Utility Field Technician will be responsible for installing, removing, inspecting, and exchanging various types of electric utility meters and modules. The role requires adherence to performance standards and safety procedures, professional customer interaction, and compliance with company and client safety protocols. The technician must be able to identify and report hazardous working conditions and follow standard work procedures. Some overtime and weekend hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have previous Utility experience.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to read meters and willingness to learn to operate new equipment and implement new procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend new hand-held technology, i.e., Cell Phones, GPS, PDAs, Digital Cameras.
  • Strong Directional Skills: Ability to read and understand maps via GPS instruments and websites.
  • Ability to read written instructions, write legibly, understand verbal instruction, make simple computations.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing the work assignment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and deal effectively with unexpected situations on customer premises.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass pre-employment Drug Screen, Background, and MVR check.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience with Maps, GPS Systems (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience with Handheld Technology (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in the Utility Industry (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Install, remove, inspect, and exchange various types of electric utility meters and modules.
  • Identify and report any/all hazardous working conditions, including but not limited to those that prevent the safe service of a meter.
  • Adhere to performance standards in a safe manner.
  • Respond to the needs of all customers with professionalism.
  • Follow all Standard work procedures at all times.
  • Comply with all company and client safety procedures at all times.
  • Some overtime and weekend hours may be required.
