About The Position

The Power and Recovery Superintendent reports to the Power & Recovery Department Manager. They will have direct oversight and accountability of four (4) salaried Front Line Leaders. This position is integral in leading efforts to safely and efficiently operate the Power & Recovery operations. Operations include the utilization of a fully integrated, complex, utilities process so that steam, electricity, water, and compressed air are supplied in the desired quantities and qualities to the other departments of the Mill. The ideal candidate will be technically oriented, and in line for advancement, at all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of experience required in utilities area processes
  • Orange book knowledge
  • 3PQP and RBSA experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must have good organizational and computer skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be self-motivated and energetic
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint).
  • Ability to work within labor agreement
  • Able to work in a high-speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high-frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces, heat, and cold and mill environment
  • Able to wear and abide by Personal Protective Equipment that is required in the mill environment
  • Able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Could be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in the manufacturing process
  • Rotating On-Call Weekend Duty

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all RBSA documentation and prep work for RBSA.
  • Participate as a member of the Recovery PPPQP Steering Committee.
  • Responsible for operations, reliability and maintenance of the effluent system and waste clarifier.
  • Actively seeks and allocates appropriate decision-making authority or task responsibility to appropriate individuals based on their abilities, availability, motivation, and development needs; considers potential positive and negative impact, business unit priorities, organizational values, and the opportunity to enhance others’ knowledge and skills
  • Communicates to all levels of the organization as needed and participates with Department Managers from other areas of the mill to coordinate activities
  • Utilizes strong problem-solving skills to ensure corrective actions for employee and/or production issues are defined and established, bringing open items to closure in a timely manner
  • Oversees daily management of mill resources, performance management, as well as positive and productive employee and labor relations
  • Monitor monthly checkbook for department and work with OMC and AMM on when projects should be completed.
  • Supervise, coach and train a team of FLL
