This role is in support of the NASA Repair, Operations, Maintenance and Engineering (ROME) program. WFF also houses the U.S. Navy as a tenant, and those facility needs are included under the ROME contract.

Requirements

  • Must meet all Core Job Specifications.
  • Must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program or technical school and have five (5) years of experience as a utilities mechanic.
  • Must be experienced in the use of all types of voltmeters ammeters, ohmmeters, CO2 meters, O2 meters, meggers, etc.
  • Must be knowledgeable in elementary electricity single and three phase systems, uses of capacitors, and relays in heat, hot water, and sewage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, validates, certifies, performs maintenance, tests and operates commercial building automation controls.
  • Maintain all related electrical circuitry.
  • Conduct equipment troubleshooting and restoration utilizing trade specific tools and test equipment.
  • Test and adjusts all components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Plan layout routing, placement and elevation, required to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair steam, water sewage, condensate, heat, air, and fuel systems.
  • Coordinates work with that of other trades and to meet other requirements.
  • Individual measures, cuts, bends, threads, installs, and makes repairs to piping, hangers and foot, cam, gate, globe, angle, check, relief, temperature, modulating, pilot-operated, pneumatic and solenoid valves.
  • Works with such piping as black iron (1/8” – 12”), galvanized (1/8” – 6”) copper and brass (1/8” – 4”), black steel (1/2” – 12”), and cast iron (2” – 24”). Uses welded, brazed, expansion and compression, sweat, screwed, flanged caulked and leaded and other joints to accomplish the work specified herein.
  • Qualified to select pipe joints, valves, and other components to match pressures and liquid solutions in the system.
  • Perform checks on the hereinbefore mentioned systems and readily acknowledged problems with their operation, and make repairs in accordance with the various plumbing, heating, pipefitting, and other associated codes and known practices, and inform his immediate supervisor of any problems, discrepancies, etc.
  • Installs new systems and equipment, such as pumps, heat exchangers, coils, water coolers, air handling equipment, etc., in accordance with manufacturer’s data with isolating valves and connections for proper operation.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs computerized/electronic boiler, water, and wastewater system controls.
  • Able to collect historical data such as charts, trends, and graphs and apply this data to perform corrective measures.
