About The Position

RK&K is currently hiring a talented, eager, team-oriented Utility Technician to join our Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) team in the NCDOT Division 4 area to work on some of the region’s most exciting projects! The Utility Technician will be responsible for performing inspection of Utilities By Others (UBO) relocation and assisting with other duties in the Division Utility office. This is for a full-time position with an indeterminate duration of at least 12 months. This position will be based in the Wilson Division office. It will require a combination of in-person office work and field work. Training will be provided as part of this role, including training necessary to become a fully certified NCDOT Technician. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of combined experience with NCDOT construction inspection and/or private sector utility construction.
  • Candidates must also be trustworthy, responsible, dependable, and willing to work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of navigating SharePoint system, production of NCDOT diaries, and experience using Standard Drawings and Specs
  • Capable of accurately reading and interpreting construction plans
  • Familiar with UBO coordination and/or relocation process on NCDOT projects
  • Experience with inspection of utilities on NCDOT projects
  • Experience with the NCDOT Encroachment process
