About The Position

The UTeach Institute manages the national expansion effort for the innovative UTeach STEM teacher preparation program and supports K–12 teachers with professional learning and resources. We house the UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA), a professional organization comprised of faculty, staff, and alumni from national UTeach programs. The UTeach Institute Writer/Editor will develop and edit a variety of publications and resources to promote Institute programs and support the national UTeach community. Institute programs include the national expansion effort, UTeach Professional Development, UTeach Computer Science, and the UTeach STEM Educators Association.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three or more years of experience writing, editing, and producing a range of publications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Experience coordinating the production process for print and digital publications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simulataneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing and editing publications within the education field.
  • Proficiency with Canva for digital content creation.
  • Experience using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain a variety of public print and online publications, including writing and editing website content, brochures, flyers, newsletters, articles, and social media.
  • Create informational and promotional graphics.
  • Engage in publications planning and project management with the Communications Lead.
  • Support UTeach network engagement in USEA, including writing and editing resources for the network, newsletters, and other communications.
  • Create informational and promotional graphics.
  • Engage in resource planning and project management with the Network Support Lead.
  • Contribute significantly to planning, communications, and implementation of the annual UTeach STEM Educators Conference.
  • Plan and participate in engagement efforts for the conference, fostering active participation from programs, alumni, and students.
  • Edit, copy edit, and proofread course curricula.
  • Participate in processes and activities designed to establish organizational culture that supports learning, collaboration, and collective responsibility to enhance professional relationships, job satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Other duties and related projects as assigned.
