Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Procedure Writer in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities Responsible for providing support and coordination in the preparation, development, and writing of new or revised technical procedures or procedures for technical systems within the framework of the functional area or division assigned. Drafts/revises administrative, operating, laboratory, and maintenance procedures, descriptive manuals, data sheets, sketches, and other documents to enable engineers, operators, technicians, and other personnel to safely manage, operate, and repair process systems and equipment. Under general supervision, researches, organizes, writes, edits, index, revises, and produces technical data for documentation of greater scope and advanced technical complexity. Develops source material, consults engineering, operations, maintenance, and technical staff, and coordinates the preparation of required materials. May participate in the establishment of procedure style guidelines and standards. Obtains data from review of documentation, drawings, schematics and reports, consultation with technical staff members and by hands-on experience. Ensures procedures are developed, reviewed, approved, and distributed to appropriate personnel in accordance with the established approval process cycle. Ensures that technical and engineering documents such as vendor manuals, diagrams, charts, blueprints, and standards are reviewed and accurately integrated into procedures. Conducts physical walk down of the system or facility location when appropriate. Routes and tracks procedures through all stages of the process cycle utilizing automated database and document tracking and retrieval systems. Expedites critical path procedures. Assembles procedure developmental information for each new procedure into the electronic workflow including checklists, review comments, approvals, associated vendor manuals and other material as required. Maintains procedure change information in the electronic workflow including a change summary, review comments, approvals, checklists, and other material as required. Conducts regular and periodic reviews of existing procedures according to established site guidelines, in response to organizational, technical, or administrative changes, or at management direction. Performs reviews of other peer or subordinate procedure writer’s output, prior to formal review process, to ensure that procedures are accurate, reflect all necessary comments and complies with the generally accepted site procedure development practices, conventions, and formats. May represent the organization to internal groups and provide development specific information to requestors. May provide work leadership for lower-level employees.
