A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a User Support Specialist. This position is for 8.00 hours per day, for a total of 205 days per year. This position may be housed at more than one location; as such, some limited travel may be required between sites daily. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS Purpose Statement The job of User Support Specialist was established for the purpose/s of serving as a technical resource to the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software on workstations; responding to problems; and training staff on the basic use of networked workstations and software. This job reports to the District Technology Director Essential Job Functions Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Address inquiries and help tickets in a timely and friendly manner. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems on PC workstations, Chromebooks and other classroom technology. Technically support testing projects such as NAEP, ACT, and RISE. Serve as network system resource at the assigned site for communicating unresolved network or software/hardware problems to higher-tier support. Support Weber County School District technology standards. Documentation and Communication: Thoroughly and accurately document work, repairs, and billing using a ticketing system. Communicate and coordinate with department and school staff daily. Attend meetings as assigned (e.g. department meetings, virtual team meetings, conferences, workshops, training, etc.). Hardware and Software Management: Aide in the Chromebook repair and deployment processes. Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware including desktop PCs, Chromebooks, display and touch panels, etc. Plan for and help carry out physical desktop replacements. Install, set up, and maintain TVs, teacher displays and touch panels. Install software applications and various peripheral equipment on computers. Perform routine maintenance (e.g. computer cleaning, backups, etc.). Project Participation and Coordination: Participate in assigned team and district projects. Coordinate with engineers regarding monthly desktop PC software updates. Support Chromebook Specialists in their duties and training. Coordinate logistics, such as transporting a variety of items for providing materials at sites or transporting equipment for repair. Service and Initiative: Maintain a customer service-oriented mindset. Take initiative to provide an excellent tech experience for every student and every employee in Weber School District.
