About The Position

The Russ Darrow Group is seeking a driven and experienced Used Car Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team. This role is ideal for a proven automotive professional who thrives on coaching others, driving results, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. As a Used Car Sales Manager, you will play a key role in mentoring Sales Associates, improving team performance, and helping customers through the buying process. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a track record of success in automotive sales, and a hands-on approach to desking and closing deals.

Requirements

  • Dealership management experience
  • Must be interested in training additional sales associates and work within a team environment
  • Enthusiastic with high energy throughout the sales workday
  • Clean driving record
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check & drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and hold the sales team accountable to performance goals and standards
  • Work directly with customers and sales staff to build relationships and enhance the overall sales process
  • Assist in desking deals, structuring transactions, and closing new car deals and helping with used car deals when necessary
  • Train, coach, and mentor Sales Associates on proven sales techniques and product knowledge
  • Monitor and improve team productivity, including lead follow-up, appointments, and closing ratios
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the sales process
  • Collaborate with F&I and other departments to ensure smooth deal flow and customer experience
  • Manage used vehicle inventory, including sourcing, acquisition, pricing strategy, aging, and turn rates
  • Actively acquire inventory through auctions, trade-ins, service drive opportunities, and third-party marketplaces
  • Evaluate and appraise trade-ins, ensuring accurate valuations and strong gross potential
  • Oversee the reconditioning process, working closely with service to control costs, turnaround time, and vehicle quality
  • Ensure all used vehicles meet company standards for safety, quality, and merchandising before being frontline-ready
  • Monitor and adjust market-based pricing using tools and data to remain competitive while maximizing profit
