The US Market Talent Lead is responsible for shaping, delivering, and continuously enhancing the US talent management strategy in alignment with business objectives. This role ensures HSBC develops and retains top talent by partnering closely with Business and Function leaders, People business partners, People teams, and Group Enterprise Talent. The incumbent will embed a growth mindset, drive robust succession planning, and strengthen the leadership bench, fostering a culture of continuous development for all employees reflecting HSBC’s priorities and values.

Requirements

  • Strong background in talent management, ideally within a large, matrixed environment
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing talent development and succession strategies
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

  • Passion for developing others and strengthening leadership capability, executive coaching certification / experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality business analytics to inform talent decisions
  • Accountable for partnering with Business, People Business Partners, Executive Search and local stakeholders to understand and respond to business priorities through the delivery of Talent management strategy and solutions
  • In coordination with People Business Partners and Executive Search, lead regular talent reviews and succession planning with the business focused on Local Critical and Value Critical Roles successor development and increased succession readiness
  • Support the delivery of Talent processes that identify and address capability gaps for the whole organization, facilitating internal talent mobility and external talent pipelining
  • Oversee robust succession planning for critical roles, ensuring successors are identified and prepared
  • Track retention and progression metrics, launching targeted initiatives to address gaps
  • Implement recognition and retention programs to boost high performer retention
  • Translate organizational priorities into actionable talent plans, identifying potential and closing capability gaps
  • Drive cost discipline in line with centralized talent management budgets (FRP)
