KDA, Inc, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, has been operating in the United States for more than 20 years. We produce world-leading Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the US Army, Marine Corps, and allies at our Johnstown, Pennsylvania factory. We have delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR RWS to 28 countries. The National Advanced Surface-to-Air System (NASAMS) is a highly mobile and tailorable capability that protects the airspace of 13 countries and Washington, DC. In 2027, we will do final assembly, test, and sustainment of the Naval Strike Missile and Joint Strike Missile systems at a new factory in southern Virginia. Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. is seeking an experienced US Sustainment Services, Manager to join our Birmingham, MI office and play a pivotal role within our Programs organization. In this leadership position, you will oversee and empower a team of highly skilled Field Service Engineers, ensuring the seamless delivery of sustainment services that support a diverse portfolio of internal and external customers. Your work will directly influence operational readiness, customer satisfaction, and long‑term program success—making you an essential force behind KONGSBERG’s commitment to excellence in the field.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years’ experience leading field service and through life support teams
  • Significant experience in working on major capital acquisition programs
  • Experience in the preparation of detailed plans for complex Defense programs
  • Experience in working as part of a diverse team, including with international partners
  • Track record in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral
  • Experience in leading and managing diverse teams to achieve outcomes within a constrained budget and schedule
  • Experience with the engagement of US SMEs to support the OEM on major Defense procurement projects
  • A bachelor's degree in management, business or a related field is required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
  • Ability to travel, both internationally and domestically, as needed for purposes of installation, verification and demonstration of products.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team; positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Flexible in ability to change priorities in order to accomplish changing team/corporate deadlines and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Understanding of DoD 5000 series requirements.
  • Knowledge of U.S. DoD Acquisition cycle including Milestone Decision Authorities.
  • Management of projects under leading commercial quality requirements (i.e. AS9100).
  • Management of projects under strict regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all KDA, Inc. Field Service Engineers.
  • Assists with the overall Sustainment and MRO effort. (Growth potential)
  • Planning and execution of organizational growth of the KDA Inc sustainment organization.
  • Main Point of Contact (PoC) for the Through Life Support (TLS) in KONGSBERG AS.
  • Coordinating a ONE KDA Sustainment concept with KONGSBERG AS.
  • Providing customer feedback and analysis to the Product Management Organizations in KONGSBERG AS (Push / Pull Business Intelligence).
  • Responsible for developing KDA Inc Cost Center (CC) budgets.
  • Responsible for developing input to the KDA Inc Strategic Plan (STP).
  • Collaborates with Marketing / Business Development to establish new Sustainment contracts and grow existing business.
  • Establishes and manages a Risk Register for KDA Inc US Sustainment Services.
  • Provides status updates and organizational reports as required up to including executive level management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
