About The Position

We are looking for a results-driven and experienced Payroll Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of Rehlko’s U.S. payroll function. This role supervises a team of 3–4 Payroll Specialists and works closely with the Global Payroll Manager to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple states, weekly and biweekly pay cycles, and one union employee group. The Payroll Supervisor plays a critical role in operational execution, process integrity, and continuous improvement within a complex, partially outsourced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; payroll certification (FPC/CPP) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
  • 1-3 years of payroll supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax rules, wage and hour requirements, and union payroll administration
  • High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong understanding of and payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and payroll/timekeeping applications (e.g., ADP, Workforce, Workday).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or managing outsourced payroll operations (ADP or similar) is strongly desirable.
  • Manufacturing knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and guide Payroll Specialists responsible for processing multi-state weekly and biweekly payrolls.
  • Review and approve payrolls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure accurate handling of union payroll requirements including pay rules, shift premiums, dues, and other contractual elements.
  • Partner with outsourced payroll providers to ensure payroll is processed correctly and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Develop and lead payroll training for Payroll Specials and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the Global Payroll Manager in all aspects of U.S. payroll operations, including strategic initiatives and process governance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee records, including hours worked, pay adjustments, taxes, and benefit deductions.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive payroll data.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll input, outputs, and system data.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and FLSA requirements.
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with tax laws and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and ensuring readiness.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and standardized procedures for all payroll activities.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Coach team members to deliver timely, accurate, and customer-focused support.
  • Communicate payroll policies, timelines, and regulatory changes to employees and stakeholders.
  • Prepare payroll reports for leadership, Finance, HR, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Generate reports necessary for tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor payroll KPIs and leverage data to drive performance improvements.
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and updates to payroll software and related systems.
  • Collaborate with HRIS, Finance, and IT teams to implement system enhancements or upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and error reduction.
