About The Position

The Office of University Public Engagement (UPE), a service unit within University Advancement, emphasizes service and community. All UPE team members are expected to support one another in achieving our mission of serving the university and broader community. Working independently under the general direction of the Director of University Public Engagement and Commencement, the Department and Commencement Coordinator supports daily office operations and provides administrative support for all UPE projects, ensuring continuity and stability within the team. Responsibilities include coordination of Commencement activities, support for department programs and events, and general office coordination. In addition, this position coordinates budget and human resources responsibilities, including recruiting and supervising student employees, tracking time and labor, accounts receivable and payable, procurement, monitoring and projecting budgets, and preparing financial reports, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
  • These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with four years of related office work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in commencement coordination, or similar event type coordination.
  • One year of recent work experience using campus systems such as CFS, CHRS, and Finance Enterprise (CSE).
  • One year of experience in processing student payroll and student employment policies.
