Major Duties Under general supervision, the Administrative Support Coordinator II provides essential administrative, financial, and operational support to the Africana Studies Department. Responsibilities include managing records, coordinating departmental logistics, and ensuring accurate reporting. This role ensures department compliance, communication, and continuity through consistent tracking, documentation, and procedural accuracy. Maintains all department fiscal and budgetary records. Assists Chair with the Schedule-Of-Classes (SOC) Build, including faculty workload and reassign time. Responsible for creating and maintaining confidential faculty and student files. Responsible for assisting with special projects, coordination of department meetings. Reviews all electronic travel forms for tenured and tenure-track faculty. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative or technical office management experience in an administrative capacity exercising independent judgment and leading the work of others.
  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and fiscal management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and train on virtual learning tools (e.g., zoom, Microsoft teams etc.)
  • Experience managing office staff (as needed) and student assistants.
  • Strong technological skills (spreadsheets, databases, social media and graphic design presentation software).
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills in handling complex administrative and fiscal workflows.
