About The Position

The University Relations Recruiting Specialist provides operational support for Fifth Third Bank’s early-career recruiting program. This role supports the planning and execution of university recruiting activities and candidate coordination to help deliver a positive, consistent candidate experience. The University Relations Recruiting Specialist typically partners with recruiters, hiring leaders, and university contacts to lead event logistics, screen and communicate with candidates, manage candidate workflows, and maintain accurate recruiting data and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related area preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in recruiting coordination, university relations, HR operations or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Applicant Tracking Systems (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate candidate and recruiter activities, including scheduling, communication and task tracking.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing work environments and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with recruiters to plan, schedule, and execute on‑campus, in‑office, and virtual recruiting events, including career fairs, information sessions, and candidate programs, while maintaining the University Relations calendar.
  • Conduct initial candidate screenings to evaluate baseline qualifications, interest, and alignment with role requirements, typically by reviewing applications and resumes, completing phone/virtual screening conversations or structured screening questions, documenting screening outcomes in the recruiting system, and providing timely recommendations and next-step routing to recruiters.
  • Support employer branding efforts through campus job postings and coordination of recruitment marketing materials, event supplies, and branded gifts.
  • Support candidate scheduling and communication throughout the recruiting process, typically by coordinating interview details, communicating instructions, and ensuring candidates have timely updates and an excellent experience. Serve as the primary point of contact for candidate scheduling queries.
  • Support offer, pre-boarding, and onboarding activities for early-career hiring, typically by initiating and monitoring background checks, processing new-hire transactions, and sending pre-start instructions and start-date confirmation communications to ensure a smooth transition from offer acceptance to day one.
  • Compile, submit, and track offers for intern and full-time candidates, including initiating offer tasks in Workday.
  • Pay invoices, retain receipts, and document expenses for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain accurate data in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), generate recruiting reports, and support business review data needs.
  • Serve as a secondary liaison with university career services and external partners to facilitate recruiting activities.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts and propose practical solutions for recruiting challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with record-keeping standards and ethical recruiting practices.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, adapting to new tasks or shifts in priorities as necessary to support your team’s and the company’s mission.
