About The Position

The University Events Student Assistant Position entails working with the University Events team in the Office of University Advancement at Cal State Fullerton. The University Events team Our team produces some of Cal State Fullerton’s largest events including Day of Giving (March), Commencement (May), Convocation (August), SOMOS (October) and CSUF Ducks Night (November) as well as other smaller events throughout the year. Our small-but-mighty team of five includes a Director, Associate Director, Event Specialist, Administrative Support Coordinator and a Student Assistant. We are looking for one student assistant who is detail-orientated and willing to work 12 to 18 hours per week, at least 3+ days per week to be worked on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends. Regular responsibilities at the office include: answering phones and emails, assisting with mass mailings, website editing, data entry, making copies, organizing event storage, assisting with social media design, photographing and filming events along with other event-related duties. You will be cart-trained to make on-campus deliveries. On-site event tasks include set-up/break-down, guest registration and working alongside vendors and volunteers.

  • Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position.
  • Valid California Drivers License
  • Physical stamina including the ability to work long event days, stand/walk for long periods of time and the ability to lift or move items up to 40 lbs.
