About The Position

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you’ll work on real projects, be part of our collaborative culture, and get the support you need to grow - across two full semesters. Our Internship Program is all about impact, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building skills that matter. If you’re curious, driven, and excited about media, entertainment, and technology, we provide an environment designed to help you learn and grow every day. In addition to all of our internships being paid, we will also offer paid time off for mental health, academic exams, and personal holidays, robust networking, learning and professional development opportunities, a complimentary Peacock subscription for the duration of the internship, free admission to Universal Parks to use during your internship, and access to mental health resources, including counseling sessions. The program runs from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027, requiring 16-24 hours per week, with opportunities located in Universal City, CA.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • Must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
  • Submit a one-page resume that outlines work experience, accomplishments, and your graduation month and year.
  • Submit a cover letter that highlights your passion for NBCUniversal and your top areas of interest.
  • Upload a transcript (unofficial transcripts are fine) that confirms your status as an actively enrolled student in a degree-granting program.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong interest in the entertainment industry, particularly television and streaming content (scripted, unscripted, or genre programming).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize information and contribute ideas.
  • Organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment.
  • Proactive, motivated, and eager to learn; able to take direction and adapt to new assignments.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides).
  • Familiarity with creative, editing, or media tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) is a plus, but not required.
  • Interest in inclusive storytelling, content creation, or talent development within media and entertainment.
  • Fluent in media and technology (for Content Acquisitions).
  • Voracious appetite for books and a general understanding of publishing landscape (for Creative Acquisitions).

Responsibilities

  • Support our West Coast portfolio in Content Acquisitions.
  • Play a key role in post-deal partner relationships, collaborating cross functionally with NBCU leadership and business teams to ensure strategic and operational alignment (Content Acquisitions).
  • Help guide partners through onboarding (Content Acquisitions).
  • Provide desk coverage across the departments as needed, including scheduling, rolling calls, and emailing with both internal personnel and external assistants (UTV Programming & Creative).
  • Read scripts and provide written coverage, that includes a summary and comments on if the material would be well suited to adapt for TV (UTV Programming & Creative).
  • Help the UTV coordinators with keeping grids and reports up to date (UTV Programming & Creative).
  • Participate in a self-guided project to hone industry knowledge and skills relevant to the intern’s career aspirations in entertainment (UTV Programming & Creative).
  • Maintain department databases of incoming and outgoing IP submissions (Creative Acquisitions).
  • Format and create copy for internal memos (Creative Acquisitions).
  • Read prospective material to succinctly pitch or pass in internal meetings (Creative Acquisitions).
  • Cover desks, phones, and administrative tasks for coordinators (Creative Acquisitions).
  • Spearhead special research projects and create presentation decks (Creative Acquisitions).
  • Organize incoming submissions (Universal International Studios, Scripted Programming).
  • Maintain talent list (Universal International Studios, Scripted Programming).
  • Update writer samples as well as tracking international festival films (Universal International Studios, Scripted Programming).
  • Write coverage and feedback on scripts and manuscripts (Universal International Studios, Scripted Programming).
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the team to track new books, IP, materials that are coming to market (Universal International Studios, Scripted Programming).
  • Review scripts and cuts (UCP Current Programming & Development).
  • Organize production grids (UCP Current Programming & Development).
  • Collaborate with teams behind critically acclaimed global hits (UCP Current Programming & Development).
  • Organize and update staffing, OWA, and ODA grids as needed (UCP Current Programming & Development).
  • Practice giving script and cut notes (UCP Current Programming & Development).
  • Write coverage on manuscripts we're interested in pursuing (UCP Current Programming & Development).
