About The Position

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will work on real projects, be part of a collaborative culture, and receive support for growth across two full semesters. The Internship Program focuses on impact, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building essential skills. The program runs from September 21, 2026, to April 23, 2027, requiring 16-24 hours per week, with the exact schedule determined by business needs. Opportunities are located in Universal City, CA. The recruitment timeline involves applications opening April 20, closing May 8, with first-round video interviews from early May to mid-June, second-round interviews from mid-June to mid-July, and offers extended throughout July. Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027)
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire
  • Submit a one-page resume that outlines your work experience, accomplishments, and your graduation month and year
  • Submit a cover letter that highlights your passion for NBCUniversal and your top areas of interest
  • Upload a transcript (unofficial transcripts are fine) that confirms your status as an actively enrolled student in a degree-granting program

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Strong interest in the entertainment industry, particularly television and streaming content (scripted, unscripted, or genre programming)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize information and contribute ideas
  • Organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment
  • Proactive, motivated, and eager to learn; able to take direction and adapt to new assignments
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides)
  • Familiarity with creative, editing, or media tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) is a plus, but not required
  • Interest in inclusive storytelling, content creation, or talent development within media and entertainment
  • Fluent in media and technology
  • Voracious appetite for books and a general understanding of publishing landscape

Responsibilities

  • Support our West Coast portfolio
  • Collaborate cross functionally with NBCU leadership and business teams to ensure strategic and operational alignment
  • Help guide partners through onboarding
  • Provide desk coverage across the departments as needed, including scheduling, rolling calls, and emailing with both internal personnel and external assistants
  • Read scripts and provide written coverage, that includes a summary and comments on if the material would be well suited to adapt for TV
  • Help the UTV coordinators with keeping grids and reports up to date
  • Participate in a self-guided project to hone industry knowledge and skills relevant to the intern’s career aspirations in entertainment
  • Maintain department databases of incoming and outgoing IP submissions
  • Format and create copy for internal memos
  • Read prospective material to succinctly pitch or pass in internal meetings
  • Cover desks, phones, and administrative tasks for coordinators
  • Spearhead special research projects and create presentation decks
  • Organize incoming submissions
  • Maintain talent list
  • Update writer samples as well as tracking international festival films
  • Write coverage and feedback on scripts and manuscripts
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the team to track new books, IP, materials that are coming to market
  • Organize and update staffing, OWA, and ODA grids as needed
  • Practice giving script and cut notes
  • Write coverage on manuscripts we're interested in pursuing
  • Cover desks when coordinators are out of office
  • Develop and schedule original scripted programming for NBC and Peacock
  • Support Comedy Development, Drama Development, and Current Programming from pitch through premiere
  • Assist with weekly newsletters, script coverage, creative call and pitch notes, and administrative support for department coordinators
  • Help manage office needs and contribute to additional projects that support daily operations
  • Conduct research, development grids, case checks, watching cuts, and providing creative input on pitches and talent
  • Track talent across current series, read scripts, watch cuts, and curate daily casting news
  • Attend and participate in meetings to stay up to date with projects
  • Help to manage NBCU’s internal screening system
  • Review and audit post production materials in wrap bibles
  • Support Production Managers/Coordinators with document review, updating production spreadsheets, and distributing production information
  • Work with other departments to find most up to date information and documents for shows in production
  • Manage assets and trackers
  • Assist with press materials
  • Report music usage
  • Pitch promotional content
  • Review project materials and provide feedback to department
  • Conduct research, social media and internal communications, and administrative support across talent development programs
