Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare administrative role or unit secretary position preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Unit Secretary or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws such as HIPAA.
  • Advanced computer skills including scheduling software and database management.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers by coordinating with nursing and medical staff.
  • Maintain and update patient medical records accurately and confidentially.
  • Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Prepare and distribute daily reports, correspondence, and other documentation.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality regulations.
  • Order and maintain office and medical supplies inventory.
  • Assist with billing and insurance documentation as needed.
  • Support the healthcare team with various clerical tasks to enhance workflow efficiency.
