About The Position

Stamford Hospital is seeking a Unit Coordinator/CNA to join our Inpatient Rehab team! Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator / Charge Nurse, the Unit Coordinator performs duties and responsibilities that pertain to both clinical nd non-clinical tasks. This role provides support for the patient care areas and is deployed by nursing leadership in a capacity that meets the ongoing operational needs of the department. Primary responsibilities include filtering telephone calls and managing distribution of paperwork and test results. This is a Full-time, day position. Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Rotating weekends and holidays. Requirements

  • Must have one of the following: Active CT CNA License Enrolled in an accredited nursing program having completed core nursing curriculum for ADLs as part of clinical rotations. Graduate of a foreign nursing program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS or Heart Saver
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

Responsibilities

  • Greets individuals coming to the unit, provides directions and information, responds to needs and requests of the staff, physicians, and members of the perioperative team.
  • Respects and protects the patient's right to confidentiality and privacy under HIPAA.
  • Prepares, complies, and maintains the patient's medical record on the nursing unit, including transcription of physician's orders and processing of ordered test and procedures from admission through discharge. Utilizes current IS system when needed.
  • Manages the unit's communication systems (phones, Voceras, patient throughput via Unit Manager in EPIC, RTLS tags, Responder, patient call bells, fax, etc.) to facilitate communication between members of the healthcare team and their clients.
  • Responds to the patient call system, contacts nursing personnel as appropriate.
  • Orders and maintains department office supplies and documentation for patient care.
  • Provides patient care during admission, discharges, EKG, blood draw, finger sticks, vital signs, toileting, and feeding.
  • Assists with education for patients and families, including the use of the Get-Well Network
