POSITION SUMMARY: The Health Unit Coordinator/ CNA through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician and other hospital departments and visitors. He/she performs general receptionist, clerical and support duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. This position requires working the minimum number of hours to maintain a CNA license. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides basic Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and assists with data collection under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The CNA assists with inpatient care throughout nursing areas and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, and appropriate documentation of services. The CNA provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. The CNA assists as needed with general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
