About The Position

The Underwriting and Product Line Manager will support the Latitude Risk Programs in all areas of product set up and is responsible for operational efficiency of the Latitude Risk Programs as well managing and leading aspects of the product development process with Program Producers and the carrier partners. This is a multidisciplinary position that will allow the candidate to work across multiple products and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • More than 10 years of Underwriting experience.
  • One or more years of claims handling/management experience.
  • Strong SQL, Excel or Database mgmt. background- R or SAS/Stata is preferred.
  • Organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and act autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to instill confidence and comfort with clients.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with associates at all levels of responsibility and individuals at all levels of life experience.
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
  • More than 5 years of home office or legal experience is preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions in compliance with established standards of quality performance and service.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry-specific specialization is a plus.
  • Previous brokering experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Product Development: This position will require the candidate to draft and assist with drafting coverage forms, draft filing memorandums, be an integral part of the filing process and work closely with carrier partners as we diversify their portfolio.
  • Underwriting Process: A successful candidate should be able to analyze risk and perform and work with risk control to achieve a comprehensive understanding of insured operations and exposures and identify hazards and means to mitigation of such hazards. They will be able to use provided tools to price according to the risk profile and interpret actuarial data. In addition to performing this work they will be responsible for training new underwriters as we onboard alongside the LatRisk Underwriting team. Industry-specific specialization is a plus. May also be required to work within and support development of complex underwriting models.
  • Operational Efficiency: Demonstrate strong mastery of compliance procedures, processes and statutory requirements that govern said processes for multiple Lines of Business. This includes the underwriting and claims side of the operation.
  • Client and Agent engagement is an integral part of the value prop for Latitude risk and the candidate shall be able to build meaningful relationships with clients and agents and provide guidance for growth.
  • Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
  • Protects the confidentiality of information learned by performing the duties of the position.
  • Attends team meetings, educational workshops, conventions, carrier functions, and social functions.
  • Accumulates required continuing educational credits to maintain current insurance license (if required).
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
