About The Position

K2 Dealers/Aegis General Insurance Agency (AGIA), a wholly owned subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, is seeking an Underwriting Intern. This is a part-time position during the school year (10-20 hours per week) with full-time opportunities during school breaks. The right candidate will have an opportunity to make a direct impact on our profit and growth results. Founded in 1977, AGIA offers a diversified national platform of specialty insurance programs through its insurance companies. Acquired by San Diego-based K2 Insurance Services in 2013, AGIA continues to expand its product offerings and distribution by developing new insurance programs and increasing the number and geographic diversity of its marketing, sales, and support staff. Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field
• 3.0 or higher GPA required
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Interest in the insurance industry and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Learn the fundamentals of insurance underwriting
• Work on Cyber, Employment Practices, and Garage Package quotes
• Choose a focus area: Underwriting: Assist in reviewing applications, assessing risks, and preparing quotes
• Choose a focus area: Marketing & Broker Relations: Learn how to build relationships with brokers and support business development
• Choose a focus area: Analytics: Develop a data-driven project to assist in underwriting decisions
