Why this role matters The primary function of this role is to act as the project manager for Christie’s Art Finance loans during the due diligence, and underwriting phases by coordinating all operational processes, collating closing requirements, and tracking all activities required to close the transaction. This role will also be responsible for monitoring our collateral portfolio and initiating our annual reevaluation processes. The Underwriting Coordinator will interact regularly with clients in addition to our global storage and shipping providers. This role works closely with Operations, Legal, Finance, and the Specialist Art Departments to ensure the smooth execution of all loans and expedient client service in this exciting growing area of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
  • Strong project management skills including ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple processes
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong follow-up skills
  • Excellent client service and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
  • A passion for the art world, and knowledge or interest in learning auction process.
  • Proactive and solution oriented-attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups and sites
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Strong knowledge of JDE, COS, Media Library and Canvas
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the underwriting and due diligence process from start to finish, including but not limited to liaising with clients to obtain all required documentation, arranging for shipment and storage of property in a timely fashion, and ensuring any issues are addressed accordingly
  • Work closely with Operations to manage collateral by requesting stock order creation, tracking receipt of property, releases, and viewings; interacting with warehouses, shippers, institutions, and clients as needed
  • Maintain Christie’s Art Finance pipeline, working closely with the Art Finance team to monitor deal status, facilitate forecasting, and assist with the creation of executive reports
  • Work closely with Specialists, Business Getters and Estates, Appraisals and Valuations department to coordinate the initial valuation of collateral, complete loan collateral appraisals, and manage any recurring valuation requirements for existing loans
  • Process and track invoices associated with each loan ensuring accurate and timely payment and reporting
  • Analyze credit portfolio for risks and monitor existing loans to ensure compliance with operating parameters
  • Work efficiently and effectively with other specialist departments including international and regional offices, support departments, external organizations, individuals and institutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
