About The Position

As a key member of the Undersea Mission Systems (UMS) Business Development team in Manassas, Virginia, the Undersea Mission Systems Business Development Lead will be responsible for the market analysis and early opportunity identification across the Undersea Mission Systems Program’s business development portfolio. Plans and executes new business and program growth activities including opportunity assessment, capture management, competitive assessment and positioning, teaming/subcontracting strategy, and customer relationship development. Coordinates with other internal functional departments that are identifying/implementing business development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying resource requirements and developing capture strategies and marketing plans for new business and program growth pursuits. Communicates plans with senior management and represents Lockheed Martin in key customer, subcontractor and teaming meetings. The role will have a unique combination of business development and product development responsibilities. Duties will include analyzing the technical needs of our military customer and developing business capture plans for our products and service offerings. We are looking for USN fleet submarine experience to assist with assessing, developing, and ultimately marketing and selling our new technologies leveraging their prior submarine operational experience. The business development lead will be one of our resident submarine operations subject matter expert (SME) and will work with our engineering team to evaluate new concepts and brainstorm with our engineers to develop new products or solutions. This work will focus on innovative concepts that improve submarine combat system operators and decision makers' ability to rapidly access the tactical environment and make decisions. Emphasis is placed on submarine acoustics, navigation and combat control. The BD professional will develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and other requirements for submarine combat system including combat system trade studies, effectiveness evaluations, and comparative assessments. The BD professional will assess tactical utility of advanced capabilities and innovative approaches and solutions to improve the situational awareness for the Submarine command team and combat system.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have insight into the competitive landscape of the undersea industry and demonstrated ability to assess approaches and candidate strategies.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with IT systems to develop source material, conduct research and prepare presentations.
  • Operational experience in submarine operations is required.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in submarine tactics, weapon system employment and U.S. military concepts of operations (CONOPS) is required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with United States Navy acquisition programs and customers as well as prior experience working with systems engineers or human factors engineers to solve or troubleshoot technical problems is desired.
