About The Position

The purpose of this internship is to provide interns with a comprehensive look at the various areas within the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The interns will be assigned to different departments, including recruiting, community engagement, human resources, and more. No week will look the same in this dynamic and immersive internship.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within 12 months of graduation) at an accredited university.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different environments and tasks.
• Interest in law enforcement and community engagement.
• Organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designated areas across divisions.
• Assist in various outreach initiatives (MCSO Community Engagement) throughout Mecklenburg County.
• Participate in ride-a longs to gain firsthand experience of the Deputy Sheriff field duties.
• Answer phones and manage administrative tasks in varies areas.
• Filing paperwork, scanning files, and maintaining file room records.
• Support administrative operations in the detention facility.
• Observation of the court system and the judicial process.
