About The Position

The EVALS program is undergoing a shift from cathode synthesis to anode characterization. In collaboration with CAMP, Fulya Dogan, and Tim Fister (all CSE), we have proposed a study to DOE to evaluate the macro-structure of graphite slurries to better correlate the solution structure with eventual performance. In this case we will be working with CAMP to evaluate the local structure of various graphite slurries - viscous liquids containing, graphite, polymers, carbon, common solvents, and additives and correlate the data with eventual performance. The chosen student should be a chemist seeking additional experience in analytical and physical chemistry, learning common characterization techniques, and have a willingness to work with our team helping create baseline samples for the effort to move forward.
