About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist II provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (Wednesday to Wednesday) 9pm - 7am

Requirements

  • Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Primary Children’s one of the two years must be pediatric experience)
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children’s one of the two registries must be pediatric)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active ARDMS credentials and modality‑specific competencies
  • Verify patient identification and exam orders; prepare patients for procedures
  • Perform ultrasound exams per departmental protocols and evaluate images for quality and accuracy
  • Complete exams within established timeframes while maintaining high standards of care
  • Educate patients, ensure comfort, and address questions or concerns
  • Assist in training and supporting students and radiology technologists
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and related systems proficiently
  • Follow infection control, safety, sterile technique, and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation, image storage, and required time stamps
  • Adhere to protocols for documentation, billing, consents, QC programs, and equipment reporting
