Requirements

Completion of a two-year accredited radiologic technology program including course work in anatomy and physiology, radiation safety and hold current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with experience in vascular.
Analytical, visual, hearing, and sensory touch acuity ability necessary to determine proper position and exposure factors based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, frequently in situations which evoke anxiety or confusion and explain procedures and dispel unwarranted fears.
Clerical ability necessary to maintain records, schedule exams, etc.
Ability to a) apply knowledge of radiologic procedures and technique, b) learn to perform other diagnostic examinations as necessary, and c) become familiar with departmental policies and procedures.
Ultrasound technologist must be able to understand clinical symptoms and be able to create diagnostic images that produce a diagnosis according to symptoms and organ structures being studied.
Must learn and become certified in other ultrasound modalities, i.e. abdomen, OB/Gyn, breast, vascular and echo when requested.
BLS Certified.
Physical ability necessary for continual standing, sitting, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling up to an equivalent of associate's weight, sporadic keyboarding, utilization of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to blood or body fluids, exposure to hazardous chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and radiation.
Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

Perform Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: Transport and prepare patients, position them correctly, operate complex imaging equipment (including mobile units), follow digital technique protocols, prepare and assist with contrast media, and ensure diagnostic image quality using PACS.
Ensure Patient Safety, Care, and Professional Conduct: Provide compassionate care, maintain patient confidentiality, practice sterile technique and infection control, respond to emergencies, and uphold hospital values, ethics, and safety standards.
Maintain Equipment, Records, and Work Environment: Clean and monitor equipment, report malfunctions, keep accurate documentation and logs, maintain sanitation and room readiness, and follow regulatory and certifying body requirements.
Support Department Operations & Collaboration: Perform clerical tasks, communicate effectively, participate as a reliable team member, engage in performance improvement activities, rotate to outside clinics when needed, take call, and assist with additional procedures such as EKGs or specimen handling.
Commit to Ongoing Professional Growth: Participate in in-services, maintain certifications and CME credits, stay current with advancements in your specialty, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making, and present a professional appearance and demeanor.
