About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful individual to manage one of its moving and storage centers. As a General Manager, you will be tasked with ensuring the center's profitability and efficiency by effectively hiring staff, managing inventory, and overseeing equipment. The role involves problem-solving as issues arise, offering a varied, fast-paced, and rewarding work experience. U-Haul emphasizes quick hiring and payment, offering immediate start options and payment for working interviews, along with a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus upon completion of their 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program. Since 1945, U-Haul has been a pioneer in the do-it-yourself moving industry, founded on the need for one-way, nationwide moving equipment after World War II, a concept that revolutionized mobility in the U.S. and Canada.

Requirements

1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction
Computer expertise
Organizational expertise
Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability
Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
High school diploma or equivalent
Able to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment
Perform profit/loss analyses
Hire and mentor new team members
Track and itemize inventory
Manage the personnel budget
Ensure that customers receive the highest quality of care
Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash
Clean and monitor the premises, and maintain a secure environment
Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University
