About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful individual to manage one of its moving and storage centers. The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring the center's profitability and efficiency by hiring effective staff, managing inventory, and overseeing equipment. This role involves problem-solving as issues arise, offering a varied, fast-paced, and rewarding work experience. U-Haul operates with a 'Hire Fast, Pay Fast' motto, offering immediate start and payment for working interviews, along with hiring and certification bonuses. Since 1945, U-Haul has been a pioneer in the do-it-yourself moving industry, founded by L.S. "Sam" Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen to meet the nationwide need for one-way moving equipment after World War II, facilitating mobility across the U.S. and Canada.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction
  • Computer expertise
  • Organizational expertise
  • Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment.
  • Perform profit/loss analyses.
  • Hire and mentor new team members.
  • Track and itemize inventory.
  • Manage the personnel budget.
  • Ensure that customers receive the highest quality of care.
  • Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash.
  • Clean and monitor the premises, and maintain a secure environment.
  • Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
