The Supervisor, Quality & Cost Optimization, will be a key leader in our continuous improvement efforts, working closely with management to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. This role involves overseeing the execution of initiatives focused on reducing warranty costs, enhancing long-term durability, improving initial quality, and optimizing cost performance across various programs and systems. The successful candidate will leverage data-driven insights, problem-solving methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve aggressive targets in quality and cost reduction, while also specifically addressing technical challenges such as brake NVH. This position demands a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field, Masters Preferred.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within a manufacturing, automotive, or engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading quality improvement initiatives and achieving measurable results in areas such as warranty reduction, durability, and initial quality.
  • Strong background in cost management and optimization, with experience in identifying and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) and their application to complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Improvement Leadership: Lead efforts to improve initial product quality, specifically targeting reductions in Global Vehicle Health and Engineering (VHE), Underbody Systems Engineering (UNSE), Fixed Brake Engineering warranty repairs, Cost per repair, spend, recovery, and First Time Reported (FTR) metrics to meet or exceed established targets.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce total warranty costs Fixed Brake Engineering with significant year-over-year reductions.
  • Oversee projects aimed at enhancing long-term durability and reliability, including achieving 15% improvement in B10 Life demonstrated.
  • Support efforts to reduce the volume of units affected by recall by 40% from CY2025 in CY2026 for MY2026/27 vehicles.
  • Utilize and promote problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) to resolve priority cases within 120 days, addressing root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Identify and implement AI-related cost efficiencies, contributing to overall cost reduction strategies.
  • Cost Efficiency and Optimization: Lead and support initiatives to achieve substantial year-over-year cost performance targets for the Industrial System, VHE, UNSE, Fixed Brakes.
  • Drive efforts to meet or exceed local UNSE Total Value Management (TVM) and global engineering TVM.
  • Ensure timing guidelines for release are met for TVM NVH Development Excellence: Focus on developing and implementing solutions to eliminate brake Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) issues.
  • Develop class leading processes and tools for becoming industry BIC for N17 - Brake Noise performance
