About The Position

The Truck Loader assists in loading cattle onto and off trucks while assuring the safety and practice of proper animal handling techniques while loading or unloading cattle. Reports to: Cowboy Supervisor and Cattle Manager. Responsible for noting strays, poor doers, downer animals, or other animals not destined for processing. Gather, sort, count, and load cattle for harvest. Coordinates shipment and receiving of cattle using the truck schedule. Accurately record pulled cattle removed from trucks. Receive, ship, unload, and move cattle daily. Safely Move cattle from pens as directed. Act by all applicable safety animal welfare regulations and company policies. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy loads (often 50 lbs / 23 kg or more)
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, and climb for long hours
  • Good balance and coordination when working around moving livestock
  • Physically fit to work in confined spaces such as truck trailers and loading chutes
  • Ability to react quickly to unpredictable animal movements
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust)
  • Sufficient stamina to work long shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Good hand strength and grip for gates, panels, and equipment
  • Adequate vision and hearing to maintain safety around animals and vehicles
  • Experience handling cattle or other livestock (preferred, sometimes required)
  • Knowledge of safe livestock loading and unloading procedures
  • Ability to move cattle calmly and humanely
  • Basic understanding of animal behavior and stress management
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
