About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Fort Wayne, IN, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career. Drivers can expect to earn $1385 or more per week, with a weekly guarantee of $1385. Compensation includes $0.51 per mile (with an estimated 2500 miles per week), $10.00 per stop (with 10-20 stops per week), and $6.00 per drop/hook. The role also includes a sign-on bonus of $1000 at 30 days and $1000 at 90 days, a shutdown bonus of $2000 in two installments in the first year, and a safety bonus of up to $250 per quarter. The schedule is Monday – Friday or Tuesday - Saturday, with start times open to AM or PM due to a bid system. Drivers will perform solo deliveries within 500-600 miles on local home daily routes. The equipment includes Day Cab tractors and 53’ Dry Van trailers, handling no-touch auto parts freight. Strong backing skills are required. Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance, and company drivers fuel up at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide. Ryder also offers to purchase trucks from those considering becoming Company Drivers and supports Military Reservists and Veterans. Unlimited referral bonuses are paid for hired drivers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Strong Backing Skills Required

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
