About The Position

ASRC Federal, under contract with the Department of Defense Test Resource Management Center (TRMC), sponsors the TRMC Internship Program (TRMCi). The Artisan Internship Pathway is a specialized, hands-on opportunity designed for students enrolled in technical associate degree or certificate programs who are interested in applied technology, skilled trades, and operational support roles within the Department of Defense Test and Evaluation (T&E) enterprise. This highly competitive program places Artisan interns onsite at premier DoD test and evaluation ranges, supporting mission-critical systems, facilities, and operations across the Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and affiliated TRMC locations. Artisan interns work directly with military and civilian mentors on applied technical projects that support test infrastructure, range operations, instrumentation, manufacturing, maintenance, systems integration, and other operational mission areas essential to national security. Target Internship Dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026Additional Benefits: Per diem, lodging, and travel support may be provided based on duty station and eligibility.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and a background investigation
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Enrolled in an accredited technical associate degree or certificate program, such as:
  • Mechatronics
  • Applied or Advanced Manufacturing
  • Industrial or Mechanical Technology
  • Electronics or Electrical Technology
  • Information Technology
  • Instrumentation, Automation, or similar applied technical disciplines
  • Strong hands-on aptitude, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, operational environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hands-on experience through labs, projects, internships, apprenticeships, or technical coursework
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, instrumentation, fabrication methods, or technical systems relevant to the discipline
  • Basic understanding of technical documentation, schematics, or system procedures
  • Demonstrated interest in defense, aerospace, test operations, or national security missions

Responsibilities

  • Support hands-on technical, operational, and applied engineering projects at an assigned DoD test range
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and operation of equipment, systems, or facilities
  • Apply classroom instruction and technical training to real-world defense and test operations environments
  • Support data collection, system validation, prototyping, fabrication, or range operations, depending on placement
  • Collaborate with mentors, technicians, engineers, and fellow interns to support mission execution
  • Present technical work and lessons learned at the program closeout symposium
