About The Position

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking an TRIO Upward Bound
Counselor/Tutor for a temporary on-campus appointment from June 14, 2026,
through August 1, 2026.

This position supports a residential summer program for high school students and
requires living on campus. The Counselor/Tutor provides supervision, mentorship,
and support while helping to maintain a structured environment, uphold program
expectations, assist with academic and enrichment activities, supervise travel
and daily routines, and foster a positive, growth-oriented experience for
students.

Requirements

• Completed a minimum of two years of postsecondary education
• Minimum 2.5 GPA required (3.0 preferred)
• Demonstrated personal or professional experience working with students and families from economically and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, or share a similar background
• Ability to reside in the residence halls during the summer program
• Interest in and enthusiasm for working with adolescents
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience as a Resident Assistant or camp counselor
• At least 21 years of age
• Ability to meet University Motor Pool driving requirements
