Department: Student Affairs Reports To: Associate Vice President-Student Affairs Travel: Occasional day travel to a Regional Site LOCATION: Green Bay STANDARD HOURS: 37.5 Hours per week; Typical hours Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Flexibility required to include other hours, as necessary. STARTING PAY RANGE: $25.81 - $27.82 per hour Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity. Grant Funded until June 30, 2030. POSITION SUMMARY The TRIO Support Specialist provides direct support services to students participating in the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program. This role focuses on helping first-generation, low-income students, and students with disabilities overcome academic and personal barriers to success. The Specialist delivers personalized advising and coaching, coordinates resources, and assists with grant program activities such as case management, workshops and the development of individualized student success plan to promote persistence, graduation, and transfer.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required
  • Minimum of one year of related work experience (counseling, academic or career advising, enrollment, financial aid, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with federal program guidelines.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with a TRIO project preferred.
  • Experience working closely with low-income, first-generation, and disabled students and students from diverse backgrounds preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and academic advising best practices.
  • Familiarity with TRIO programs or similar student success initiatives.
  • Proficiency in student information systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic, career, and financial advising to TRIO participants.
  • Assist with screening applicants for program eligibility.
  • Assist students in developing individualized success plans and monitor progress.
  • Connect students to resources for tutoring, counseling, and disability services.
  • Coordinate workshops on topics such as study skills, financial literacy, and transfer planning.
  • Support cultural enrichment activities, campus engagement opportunities, and 4-year college visits.
  • Assist with scheduling and delivering program events.
  • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Track participation and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual performance reports.
  • Work closely with faculty, advisors, and other support services to ensure holistic student support.
  • Promote TRIO services through outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development related to TRIO objectives.
