About The Position

The Tribal Liaison is responsible for interfacing with Tribal Leaders, Indian Health Services, and Tribal 638 Service Delivery Systems; building and maintaining strategic relations, alliances, and coalitions; developing and implementing strategic initiatives, member outreach and retention activities, and health plan cultural sensitivity. The role also involves coordinating and supervising the implementation of strategies related to specific business programs, products, territory or expansion. This is a field-based role, requiring associates to primarily operate in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as needed, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. This approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness to client needs, and direct, hands-on engagement.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS in Business Administration, Political Science, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in an administrative, Tribal leadership, social work or other role in Native American community organization, including Tribal 638 or Indian Health facility related to health or community service.
  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Tribal Liaison team including field activities, scheduling of large events, and coordination staff activities.
  • Plans, facilitates, and manages bi-annual Health Plan meetings; provides documentation to the State to maintain contractual compliance and to Health Plan leadership for use in service delivery improvement, as well as Indian health care compliance.
  • Attends Tribal Consultations as requested by individual Tribal units or at the request of a state agency/department.
  • Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with state, business, and tribal leaders, and members.
  • Reviews and revises the Cultural Competency Plan and Health Plan training program; assists in the delivery of annual cultural competency training.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director and Service Coordination staff to address the needs of Native American members with complex issues.
  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the member population for the primary purpose of increasing enrollment and decreasing disenrollment.
  • Ensures consistent compliance with state, federal, and company specific requirements.
