About The Position

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Treatment Plant Operator II - Surface Water to improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Utilities department. This position serves as a team leader for SWTP Operator I staff by providing instruction and assistance in the responsibilities associated with the monitoring of pump stations, chemical feed systems, and all other primary process areas. The SWTP Operator II assures routine calibration of continuous monitoring instruments used for compliance reporting; adjusts chemical metering pumps; compiles data for monthly reports; determines process chemical dose and flow adjustments; determines proper corrective procedures regarding water quality, implements these procedures and performs follow ups. Coordinates budget needs with PCS. Requirements

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training experience in the water industry or related field. Preferences include: college courses or certification(s) in environmental science, microbiology, or chemistry.
  • Three (3) years of working experience in surface water treatment plants or closely related field.
  • The minimum license requirement for this position is a valid Class C Surface Water Operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
  • Texas Class "C" Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with membrane filters is preferred.
  • Preferences include: college courses or certification(s) in environmental science, microbiology, or chemistry.
