Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Torrance, California. This role supports a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit managing both low and high-risk obstetric patients, including complex antepartum and postpartum cases. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for L&D nurses with strong high-risk obstetrics experience who are comfortable managing deliveries, surgical cases, and postpartum care in a fast-paced acute care environment. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • Night shift 3x12s • Hours: 19:00–07:00 • Patient ratio: 1:2 • Weekend rotation required • Floating required to Mother/Baby unit • No call required COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. Each compensation package is customized and may include taxable hourly wages along with tax-free stipends when applicable. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage laboring patients including high-risk obstetric cases • Circulate and recover cesarean sections • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart tracings • Administer medications including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and antihypertensives • Assist with vaginal deliveries and emergency interventions • Provide newborn stabilization and immediate care • Support postpartum recovery and patient education • Collaborate with interdisciplinary OB and neonatal teams • Document care in Epic EMR WORK ENVIRONMENT • Acute care hospital setting • High-volume L&D unit (200–300 births/month) • 21-bed unit with 22 rooms • Neonate, infant, adolescent, and adult patient populations • Epic charting system • Free parking

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years Labor & Delivery experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
  • High-risk OB experience REQUIRED
  • Previous travel experience REQUIRED
  • Active California RN license REQUIRED (must be in hand)
  • ACLS, BLS, NRP REQUIRED
  • AWHONN Advanced REQUIRED (HARD STOP) OR C-EFM accepted in lieu
  • Epic charting experience REQUIRED
  • Ability to manage 1:2 patient ratios
  • Must be comfortable with cesarean sections and recovery
  • Must be able to float to Mother/Baby unit
  • Must meet 50-mile radius rule
  • Locals accepted at lower rate
  • RTO must be submitted with application
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as required
