Onvo is a network of travel plazas, restaurants, and hotels with locations throughout Pennsylvania and New York. This Cashier role is a frontline position integral to the company’s success. The ideal candidate is energetic, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, with strong verbal communication skills, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer focus. The primary purpose of the Cashier is to directly interact with customers, provide fast and friendly customer service, and maintain a clean and safe environment. Onvo is passionate about convenience, providing the best experience for guests, and offering exceptional service that is always quick, always kind, and always convenient. They welcome candidates with or without prior customer service and hospitality experience, as long as they are 'go-getters'.

Requirements

  • Energetic, outgoing, people oriented and self-motivated candidate
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment maintaining high level of customer focus
  • General knowledge of all point-of-sale equipment
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds following proper lifting procedures
  • Physically capable of standing for long hours

Responsibilities

  • Greets every customer in a quick and courteous manner
  • Provides a pleasant shopping experience for all customers and responds to customer inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Handles all customer complaints according to company policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains product knowledge and provides customers with product recommendations
  • Processes customer sales accurately and efficiently in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Performs till balancing as per company procedures at the start and end of each shift
  • Ensures cash drawer levels are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Receives and stocks all merchandise in accordance with company policy
  • Ensures stock is faced up, clean and presentable at all times
  • Apply the FIFO (first in first out) system, when receiving or stocking any product
  • Ensures all damaged and/or out of date stock is removed, accurately recorded and placed in designated quarantine area
  • Follows portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize loss
  • Maintains full control of the store and its contents at all times using prevention techniques as per company to minimize loss (i.e. drive offs or retail theft etc)
  • Follows company policies and procedures for securing the premises upon end of day closure
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness
  • Cleans in accordance with the Onvo’s/brand specific sanitary standards including but not limited to: sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning walls, counters, tables and service equipment
  • Cleans the customer service area by removing trash, cleaning restrooms and the parking lot
  • Works effectively with others (individuals and departments) in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner
  • Helps other team members in their duties and assists new associates in learning their new job skills
  • Communicates any issues of concerns and ensures all internal matters are presented to GM in a timely manner
  • Performs all duties in a safe and responsible manner to assure workers, customers, suppliers/contractors and the environment are not at risk
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and instructions
  • Uses materials handling procedures and equipment provided to minimize contamination or injury
  • Reports to management any unsafe practice or condition and follows all Onvo safety initiatives
