About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Therapy Aide to support a Children/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. This role involves providing both direct and indirect patient care in an acute behavioral health setting, ensuring patient safety and supporting therapeutic interventions.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of mental health or psychiatric experience
- Current CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with EMR systems required
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of mental health or psychiatric experience preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Prior inpatient experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect care to pediatric and adolescent psychiatric patients
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and patient behaviors
- Assist with patient admissions and orientation to unit routines
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and hygiene needs
- Develop therapeutic relationships and engage patients in activities
- Assist in crisis intervention and maintain a safe environment
- Perform safety checks throughout the shift
- Collect specimens and assist with physical assessments as needed
- Transport patients within the facility
- Document patient information using electronic medical records (EMR)
- Communicate patient updates and concerns to nursing staff promptly
