Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining detailed data on trauma patients to support clinical care, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. This role involves reviewing medical records, abstracting key clinical information, and entering it into a trauma registry database using standardized coding systems such as ICD-10 and AIS. The registrar collaborates with trauma program staff and healthcare providers to ensure data accuracy and completeness, generates reports for internal and external stakeholders, and helps identify trends to improve trauma care outcomes. Strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with trauma registry software are essential, and certification as a Trauma Registrar (CSTR) is often preferred or required.
