About The Position

Under general guidance from the Chief Nursing Officer, the primary responsibility of the Trauma Program Manager is the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program in accordance with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma for a Level 3 trauma program. The Trauma Program Manager also manages the Trauma Registrars, Trauma Coordinators, and oversees clinical and administrative aspects of the care of ill and injured surgical patient.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or related field required.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of care of trauma patients with at least 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • At least 2 years management experience preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in professional writing and public speaking.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Advanced practice degree in nursing with TCRN specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the Level 3 Trauma Program in accordance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards and organizational goals, ensuring continuous readiness for verification and compliance.
  • Directs performance improvement and patient safety activities by analyzing trauma data, monitoring quality audit filters, conducting case reviews, and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and PI team.
  • Oversees trauma registry operations including data abstraction, validation, and reporting to state and national databases, ensuring accurate and timely data submission for quality and research initiatives.
  • Manages trauma program staff and resources by providing leadership, scheduling, and guidance to trauma registrars and coordinators to maintain efficient program operations.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary communication and collaboration among clinical and ancillary services, facilitating meetings, education, and process improvements to optimize patient outcomes across the continuum of trauma care.
  • Plans and delivers trauma education and outreach activities for internal staff and external partners, including ATLS, TNCC, and EMS training, to enhance clinical competency and community trauma readiness.
  • Prepares the organization for ACS verification and regulatory reviews by leading documentation efforts, coordinating site visits, and implementing action plans to maintain trauma center designation.
