In collaboration with the manager/director the trauma data registar is responsible for assisting in the coordination, integration, and implementation of the organization wide performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with company policies and state/federal regulatory and accreditation standards. Activities include but are not limited to chart reviews, data abstraction for CMS Core Measures and other quality outcomes studies, and staff education regarding core measures and updates regarding new and enhance indicators. The primary responsibilities for the Trauma Registrar’s role encompass all aspects of a database model. Accurately identifies all patients for entry into the hospital trauma registry. Abstract data from the medical records of appropriately identified I defined trauma patients. Completes and verifies for accuracy all data collected as a requirement for a level 1 trauma center. Assigns and scores all injuries utilizing the AIS and ICD-9 system, ICD 10 accurate E-codes, collects and codes data on all procedures and complications. Maintains a paperless data process. Optimizes all available electronic resources available to support the trauma data process. Ensures that all data is validated and maintains a concurrent and comprehensive data validation process

Requirements

  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • AAAM Course Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • ATS Data Registrar Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • Excellent computer skills are required including proficiency in (MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience in reviewing charts for care issues.
  • Detail oriented organizational skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple cases, directions and be able to follow-through.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience with Medical Staff communication a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with exceptional professional work ethics.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, database and typing.
