This posting is for a Transportation Supervisor I position within the Division 9 Traffic Services Unit located in Forsyth County. This Position will supervise and direct traffic signing operations within Division 9. Work may include special assignments outside of normal working hours. In addition, this position will be subject to 24-hour emergency response for the repairs of damaged regulatory signs, installation/maintenance of emergency detours, and snow & ice removal.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of various computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, sign fabrication programs, MMS, and SAP
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and six years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience
  • Experience must be related to functional area of the work that the position will supervise
  • Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement (or obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire)
  • Pre-employment drug testing will be required
  • Completion and signing of a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substance and alcohol testing
  • Successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation
  • Safety-toed shoes required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sign design, layout, and fabrication
  • Experience in planning work and supervising a crew
  • Experience operating a sign truck with attachments
  • Knowledge in Advanced Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices
  • Experience in record keeping, such as tracking employees and equipment time and recording quantities of material used
