By joining our Project Development Branch in Design as a Transportation Engineer Technologist II in Clay County; you’ll have the opportunity to complete a variety of advanced technical components while creating or referencing engineering documents, including plans, proposals, specifications and addenda. Holders of the Transportation Engineer Technologist II position will complete tasks such as: Assist the District Surveyor with major construction and maintenance engineering projects Assists with project surveying activities and verifies that projects are constructed according to specifications, plans, notes, and supervisor instruction. Communicate with property owners, government officials and, or, utility companies to solve concerns, questions, and, or, complaints relating to project surveying activities. Performs deed research and assists with establishing property lines on highway projects Works with surveyors to collect data and prepare reports, spreadsheets, and estimates packages for project development. Ideal Candidate will have experience in: Surveying experience including highway or roadway surveys, boundary and topographic surveys, and construction layout. Experience using surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, data collectors) and related software Ability to collect, analyze, and verify field data to support design, right-of-way, and construction activities. Experience working in active roadway environments and coordinating with engineers, inspectors, and project team preferred. Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology
  • Graduate with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
  • Two years of engineering-related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Nice To Haves
