By joining our Division of Structural Design as a Geotechnical Services Transportation Engineering Branch Manger in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee professional and technical staff in planning, coordinating, and delivering geotechnical engineering services for statewide transportation projects, ensuring technical quality, efficient project delivery, and collaboration across divisions and partners.

Requirements

  • Must have four years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.
  • Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Nice To Haves

  • Development or implementation of engineering policies, standards, or procedure
  • Experience in geotechnical analysis and familiarity with geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Leadership or management experience in geotechnical engineering projects
  • Experience managing production schedules and workload distribution
  • Ability to deliver clear technical recommendations and communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise geotechnical engineering staff
  • Plan, assign, and coordinate branch work to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Review and approve engineering reports, plans, and consultant deliverables
  • Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter expert in geotechnical engineering
  • Coordinate geotechnical activities with federal, state, and local agencies
